His first significant performance work, <i>Five Day Locker Piece<\/i> (1971).\u00a0His most well-known act from that time is perhaps the 1971 performance piece <i>Shoot<\/i>, in which he was shot in his left arm by an assistant from a distance of about 16 feet (5\u00a0m) with a .22 rifle.\u00a0Other performances from the 1970s were <i>Match Piece<\/i> (1972),<span style=\"font-size: 16.6667px;\">\u00a0<\/span><i>Deadman<\/i> (1972), <i>B.C.
