The challenge is to produce an original piece of work that uses creative technology to\u00a0engage with the notion of cities as playable, malleable, and idiosyncratic public spaces, which\u00a0responds to the theme \u2018Journeys\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With more than half the world\u2019s population now living in cities, transport infrastructure is a key investment area of the smart city, with communication networks joining up sensors to connect services and make efficiencies. But how people feel about their journeys, how they\u00a0use their time and how they connect with others is often overlooked. \u00a0A Playable City approach to urban journeying re-appropriates infrastructure and technology to start new conversations, imagine new futures and make human connections across the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The winning proposal will be prototyped and publicly tested in Bristol, UK for the public to play in early 2017, with a view to an international tour in 2018 and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Award includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2022\u00a0Award of \u00a330,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2022\u00a0Practical support in producing the work<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2022\u00a0Connection with the Pervasive Media Studio at Watershed in Bristol<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2022\u00a0Development of touring and future opportunities<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2022\u00a0Documentation of the work<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Who should apply?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We are looking for artists, designers, architects, urbanists, interaction designers, technologists and creative practitioners who can demonstrate a history of delivering high quality, innovative practice.
