Although strange to personally consider, each town, city, or village has its own distinct sound that cannot be replicated. Landscapes, technology, and people all add unique elements to their home and its sound. Being from a northern New England suburb in Bedford, New Hampshire, there is a definite distinction in sound from my current residence in Durham, North Carolina. I had not previously directly considered how this has changed my life. I had subconsciously noticed the train running through town and similar aspects like that that I did not experience before but it has been interesting to see its impact on my vision of the town. In addition, the seemingly never-ending construction has also been an influence in my perception and hearing throughout Durham. I believe that all of these experiences are important because they reflect a large part of the town’s identity which has an overall reflection on its people.
