paraSITE project

Michael Rakowitz’s paraSITE project was an NYC based public artwork intended to elevate the conversation/concerns about the conditions in which the homeless were living. Inflatable shelters powered by ventilation vents on the buildings to which they were attached provided a warm, safe space to sleep. The units also created a secondary conversation about energy and extravagance consumed by the existing buildings.
