Meris, born in Haiti, raised in Nassau, Bahamas facilitated this “High Tea” project in The Bahamas to spark conversation about identity. Making 40 ceramic pieces, Meris traded his works for preowned ceramics brought to the conversation by invitees. The conversations were centered around what defines “Bahamianess,” a hot-topic in the Bahamas which is now a hot bed for refugee influx.
The project aim was to broaden the sense of what we consider idyllic characteristics/ behaviors/ traits practices for cultural identity in an effort to minimize othering.
