It was not until my senior year of high school that I decided to explore the art of film. Having a lot of friends in the advanced film classes, I figured that I would naturally learn the art through them. In reality, it is much more difficult than it seems and it is where I learned a lesson- don’t judge a book by its cover.
I enrolled in the most advanced film level at my high school – IB Film Studies HL. With 2 semester projects in groups, I was able to learn a lot throughout the first semester and as time went on, I was able to take more advanced roles. In the beginning, I took roles as a scriptwriter and other preproduction roles. However, for the last project, I was able to put my newfound knowledge to direct our final film. Having learned these qualities, I look forward to exploring the different projects that I can produce given the resources and architecture that Duke has to offer.
