As someone who considers myself to be both a scholar-activist and an artist I thought this was a very compelling series which highlights the inseparability of socials movements from art. In fact, social movements not only utilize art and artists but are themselves works of art. In an increasingly globalized world where performative action is increasingly essential for recognition, social. Movements cannot thrive without the incorporation of artistic forms of dialogue. The powerful photographs from BLM of Die-ins and resisting police officers highlight this. But the planning and execution of social movements follow the same processes as many compelling art works. Even the non-performative aspects are like art pieces which share a social message in more subtle ways
