Explore music around the world!

In one of the lectures, DJ rupture talks about distributional aesthetics. He makes a point of how the way one gets introduced to a song decides the social meaning it has to the listener. If a song is introduced by a DJ at a club, that song would be associated to party and excitement. If a song is introduced during a national sports game, the song would have a very patriotic and symbolic meaning. I think with the introduction of compressing music and online archives, a new way of getting introduced to a music has emerged. Now you can get introduced to a music by yourself! Now a song can be compressed to such a small size and uploaded on internet. The archive is so enormous that you have access to music all around the world from as old as early 20th century. I think it is much easier to explore music and sound from different cultures and different timelines. I personally really enjoy exploring new sounds and hope this interaction between distant cultures could keep inspiring people to make new and different music.
