Whimsical Wynwood

During my spring break, I visited the Wynwood Walls in Miami. The area itself is covered with spectacular murals and serves as a museum of street art and graffiti. The project started with the 25th-26th Street complex. The diversity of designs and colors makes Wynwood so unique, attracting tourists from all over the world. Community revitalizer, Tony Goldman sought to transform the warehouse district into giant canvasses for street art to be portrayed. The walls incorporate both American and international artists and display a wide variety of styles. Since its birth in 2009, the Wynwood Walls has featured 50 artists from 16 countries and have transformed 80,000 square feet of blank space. The Wynwood Walls commitment to diversity allows artists of different genders and races portray their work.

“By presenting it in a way that has not been done before, I was able to expose the public to something they had only seen peripherally.”-Tony Goldman
