I collected random paint chips at Lowes, and took them to a favorite nature reserve. As I walked I paid attention to the landscape and which colors felt potent in relation to places on the trail. Then I marked those points with the appropriate chips, which added poetic significance by providing a title to the location–as written on the color chip. In ways I felt it to be an overlay map of an existing trail. Artistically and aesthetically I enjoy subtle interruptions of ordinary experience’s which create opportunity for reflection. I intentionally kept the project anonymous, without instruction or prescribed results for the individuals to experience it as a chance encounter. Below are a few select markers–there were ten markers in total stretched over a one mile loop. The titles below the images, are both the names written on the paint chip as well as the title of the location.
